EG Woode Food Hub

The EG Woode Food Hub is the adaptive reuse and complete redevelopment of a historic commercial building in Chicago's Englewood neighborhood. The project began with stabilization of the existing structure, which had suffered a major collapse at the rear of the building extending from the roof to the basement. Extensive structural reconstruction was required, including rebuilding the collapsed portions of the building while preserving and restoring the historic masonry facades.

The comprehensive renovation includes new wood trusses at each floor and the roof, a new elevator, a complete roofing system, new mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, interior framing, and high-quality finishes throughout. Blending structural restoration with modern building systems and contemporary finishes, the redevelopment breathes new life into a long-vacant property while preserving its historic character.

Once complete, the EG Woode Food Hub will serve as a modern, accessible community resource that expands local food access, supports economic development, and contributes to the continued revitalization of Chicago's Englewood neighborhood.
